Preposition Usage

Use prepositions properly:  Use prepositions according to their meaning and for proper idiomatic phrases.

 

“On” refers to the surface, while “in” refers to being inside something.

Tami was involved on a meeting when Frank arrived. – Incorrect

Tami was involved in a meeting when Frank arrived. – Correct

Stan stood in the observation deck overlooking the city. – Incorrect

Stan stood on the observation deck overlooking the city.  – Correct

Geraldo enjoyed weightlifting on his spare time. – Incorrect

Geraldo enjoyed weightlifting in his spare time. – Correct
