No comma between compound elements that are not clauses: Do not put a comma between compound elements that do not form a compound sentence.
Only use a comma if there is an independent clause on both sides of the conjunction, as with H1.
Olivia went to the lab, and banged on the door. (Incorrect)
Olivia went to the lab and banged on the door. (Correct)
The mouse jumped all over her, but did not bite her. (Incorrect)
The mouse jumped all over her but did not bite her. (Correct)
