Verbs: Perfect Tense

Jared Aragona

Verbs: Perfect tense: Use the auxiliary verb “to have” + a past participle to form perfect verb tenses correctly.

Perfect tense shows action completed by a certain time in the past, present, or future:

Past Perfect:

I had studies six hours for the previous test.

Roberta had listened to field recordings of drumming for her musicology class.

Present Perfect:

You have borrowed my notes one time too many!

He has stolen my lab coats for the past year.

Future Perfect uses the helping verb “will” as well:

They will have visited Dallas ten times by the end of decade.

will have known the faculty in the Department of Neuroscience, Developmental and Regenerative Biology for two years in May.
