Parting Words

If you’re reading this section, we want to extend our congratulations. You did it! You completed your precalculus course (successfully, we hope!). Our goal when compiling this book was to support you on your mathematics journey through this course, and to prepare you for Calculus.  It is our wish that you feel confident and ready to move onto your next math course at UTSA. Bon Voyage, friends! May you have fair winds and calm seas in all your future endeavors, and should you get brutal winds and terrible seas, we pray you developed the skills necessary to navigate the situation well.

The contributors to this book are as follows and in no particular order regarding importance. Rather, we relied equally upon each other to persist through the creation of this textbook.

Sage Bentley is an enigma at UTSA (in fact, let us know when you find her on campus so we can say Hi!). A mother of five children, Sage has always been known as a hard-working straight shooter who is deeply loyal to her friends and family. She’s a Senior Lecturer at UTSA but we know that she’ll be a Tenured Professor before too long!

Stephen Peña is a Lecturer at UTSA who secretly pulls the strings in the math department (his nickname is The Puppet Master!). He is interested in studying the mathematical structures arising in physics. Stephen enjoys movies and does not enjoy writing blurbs about himself. He hopes that you are a student in some of the upper division mathematics classes that he teaches, such as Linear Algebra!

Carolyn Luna is an Assistant Professor of Practice at UTSA. She LOVES the creativity in mathematics and considers herself a lifelong learner. In fact, every semester she learns something new about our precalculus course! Carolyn believes that we are stronger together than apart, and that our job is to encourage and support each other throughout our own individual life journeys. She loves animals (and secretly thinks they’re smarter than people, but don’t tell her that I told you!).

Phillip Saldivar is a Graduate Teaching Assistant at UTSA. He has an immense connection with mathematics and a great appreciation for pedagogy. So, naturally, he intends on becoming a mathematics professor upon his graduation. He enjoys watching movies (as if his cat named Leia wasn’t proof enough) and loves the city of San Antonio.

An Do is a Graduate Teaching Assistant at UTSA. His major is Computer Engineering; however, he has been a mathematics tutor/TA since undergrad. His assistant editor (his dog named Deuce) is always beside him whenever he works on this book. He believes math is better learned if we allow our minds time to ponder. He hopes the viewers enjoy the journey of learning precalculus as much as he enjoyed editing this book.
