Introduction

The COLFA Semester in Urbino offers extraordinary opportunities for experiential learning in flexible learning spaces. With the support of Teaching and Learning Reimagined grant in the spring 2022 semester, we developed and expanded these opportunities through cross-disciplinary projects that connected the content of individual courses in music history, linguistics, literature, and art history, to the broader themes and practices that connect these disciplines. Students from different specializations were assigned to interdisciplinary teams. Each team defined a research problem and developed strategies to teach the topic to the other teams. Presentations occurred during program-related excursions to Rome, Florence, and Verona so that students could connect course and presentation content to the historically and culturally significant sites and objects we study during the semester. This is our classroom.
