7:00 am | Bus leaves from Urbino (Borgo Mercatale) for Rome |
11:30 am | Bus arrives at Hotel Pacific. Check-in, eat lunch on your own |
1:00 pm | Leave the hotel as a group. Walk to St. Peter’s Basilica. |
2:00 | Presentation by Team Charlemagne at the location where Charlemagne was crowned emperor in 800 CE. (Team members will each present to one of the other teams) |
3:00 | Tour St. Peter’s with Dr. Fachechi (using Whisper units) |
3:30 | Walk to hotel. |
5:00 | Depart via Metro for Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. (Line A, Repubblica-Teatro dell’Opera) |
6:00 | Performance: Verdi’s Luisa Miller. Optional dinner afterwards. |
Day 2 Friday, February 18
The Vatican Museums
8:00 am | Leave hotel together, walk to the Vatican. Meet Prof. Fachechi. |
9:00 | Enter Vatican. Visit Sistine Chapel, Raphael’s School of Athens, and other sites. |
1:00 | Enter Vatican. Visit Sistine Chapel, Raphael’s School of Athens, and other sites. |
3:00 | Presentation by Team Reformation/Counter-Reformation near the Fontana dei Quattro. |
Lunch on your own.

8:00 am | Depart hotel as a group. Take Metro A at Cipro station (direction Anagnina) to Termini stop. Walk to Collosseum. |
9:00 am | Colosseum, Arco di Constantino, Forum, Palatine Hill. |

Day 4 Sunday, February 20
Bernini and Caravaggio
Early morning: | free time or attend Mass at St. Peter’s: 9 am in Italian or 10:30 in Latin, and receive the Papal blessing at noon. Suggested alternative activity: climb Michelangelo’s dome. |

2:00 | Meet Dr. Fachechi in front of S. Giovanni in Laterano, walk to S. Clemente, Santa Maria della Vittoria (to view Bernini’s Santa Teresa in Estasi), Trevi Fountain, San Luigi dei Francesi (to see Caravaggio’s Calling of San Matteo), Trastevere |
5:00 | Free time |
Day 5 Monday, February 21 (extended day)
8 am | depart for Catacombs of San Sebastiano http://www.catacombe.org/info.html#Walk on Appian Way; visit grave of Keats and Shelley in Protestant Cemetery). Lunch along the Appian Way |
