9 Gubbio
The website for the Funivia says that it is closed March 21-24 for maintenance, so we assume we will not be able to ride it. If we can, we will! On the top of Colle Eletto is the Basilica di Sant’Ubaldo, with the mummified remains of the saint himself. This mountain is also the probable site of many sacrifices of the Atiedian Brothers. If you’d like to walk (or run) up on foot, like the runners of the Corsa dei Ceri, you can do this during your free time. If you do this, be sure to allow sufficient time for the ascent and descent.

*Three gates of Iguvium: Tessenaca, Vehia, and Trebulana
Porta Tessenaca was in what is now Largo del Bargello, near the 10th century Porta San Giuliano, and opened onto the ancient bridge across the Camignano
Porta Vehia was on or near the site of the present Arco di San Marziale.
These gates were presumably connected by walls that followed the lines of what are now Via dei Consoli and Via XX Settembre, which would have protected the settlement from attack from the plain below. [located near the Funivia station]
Porta Trebulana was probably higher up the slope of Monte Ingino, perhaps on the site of the medieval Porta Sant’ Agnese.
