I think a lot of people view working in the tech industry as a dream job. What’s so great about this kind of job?
Transcript: “What I love the most about my job is, really, everything. I get to work remotely, so if I want to go on vacation to Europe I can work remotely from there, I get paid well, I have a great team, I learn something new everyday, so my intellect is constantly being challenged, and it has a big impact worldwide.”
For example, Allison had the opportunity to work from England and Ireland in 2023, and being able to work flexibly afforded her the option to do her work abroad rather than use up all her paid time off on her 15-day trip. Here she is taking a break to tour the Guinness factory in Dublin!
In addition to working remotely (a perk of being a contractor, rather than a direct employee of the company), Allison is constantly challenged intellectually. Most recently, she has been assisting in the configuration of some existing tools for a new geographical location where they speak a language she can not read or write. This has required her to rely on feedback from the language specialists, the little bit of HTML she has picked up over the years, and her in-depth understanding of her company’s tools. According to Allison, there is never a dull moment!
