Grammar notes

Punctuation English Japanese
period .
comma ,

Note: in the dialogue, the punctuation of the period after はじめまして is “” which is a small circle. It is different from an English period which is “.“, a dot.

It is important to note that in Japanese writing, the usage of exclamation marks or question marks is relatively less common than in English.

However, it is worth noting that manga and anime use question marks and exclamation marks to exaggerate or emphasize a situation. Using them in email or text messages is also on the rise.
