Somos San Anto: Abrazando nuestros lenguajes, herencia cultural y comunidad was developed by Sylvia Fernandez, Stephanie Brock Gonzalez, and a team of Spanish Heritage instructors for students enrolled in SPN 1014 and SPN 1012 Elementary Spanish for Heritage Speakers at UT San Antonio. SHL courses are designed for learners who have been exposed to Spanish from a young age, typically within their homes or communities. SHL instruction acknowledges the unique challenges faced by heritage learners and focuses on building upon their existing language skills. Furthermore, SHL classes incorporate content that reflect the cultural and linguistic realities of the students they serve. In this book, we aim to use place-based, asset-based, and student-centered approaches to teaching SHL to heritage learners in South Texas. This OER has been created as final project for the class LDT 6003: Research in Learning, Design and Technology, in the MA in Learning, Design and Technology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Throughout the course, graduate students explored the foundational aspects of research in the field of Learning, Design, and Technology, and identified relevant topics to stay abreast of research. For each selected topic, students conducted literature reviews and analyzed articles published post-2021, contributing to a comprehensive overview of most relevant trends in Artificial Intelligence, Gamification, Interactive Technologies and much more.
